YOUR JOB – YOUR TRAINING – YOUR WAY – SINCE 2007

This course in particular relies on the RII Resources Infrastructure Training Package – an advanced curriculum that provides a substantial amount of education to students undergoing the programme. Those that complete the course are deemed to be competent in a variety of fields; the majority of which will relate to construction and engineering, although certain aspects are more mentally-orientated.

For example, any student wishing to achieve a certificate in civil engineering will be expected to demonstrate skill and expertise when operating heavy machinery, including but not limited to, plant equipment and transportation vehicles. Furthermore, they will also be well versed in applying their newly acquired theoretical knowledge and judgement depending on any number of given situations.

What does the qualification apply to?

The certificate itself is ideal for those interested in improving their skills relating to a range of mechanical, engineering and construction practices. Many qualified students go on to offer their services in any one of the following service categories:

  • Tunnel construction
  • Timber bridge maintenance and construction
  • Civil construction occupations
  • Pipe laying and relining
  • Road maintenance
  • Highway construction
  • Bridge construction and maintenance

These are just a few of the most common career choices available once qualified; although it is worth noting that anyone able to pass and obtain the certification can go on to take on management and supervisory roles within the construction industry itself. The course itself, referred to in its code-form as RII30913, covers a range of topics from basic skills to advanced alternatives.

Who can apply for the training programme?

The majority of training centres within Australia are able to cater to individuals and groups, and there are some courses that can be booked and undertaken on specific sites and premises. For example, if a group of individuals wish to undergo the course within their workplace, then there are some agencies that are willing to send tutors out, depending on the location.

In these cases additional fees may be charged, but as the majority of candidates will visit a pre-defined location as provided by the training provider, this is a very infrequent event. Anyone over the age of 18 can apply for a course, but it’s not uncommon for the majority of applicants to be over 21. This is due to the fact that the course itself is considered intermediate and it’s suggested that entry-level equivalents are pursued ahead of time, simply to train and prepare a student for the advanced curriculum that they should expect to face with this level 3 course.
